Northern Solstice & Lunar Eclipse (June 21-26, 2010)
Northern Solstice Alignments (June 21-26, 2010)
Solstice Grand Square and more...
The Solstice event for June 2010 (June 21 at 4:28 am Pacific) is a truly remarkable celestial alignment. The Sun opposes Pluto, and Saturn opposes the conjoining Jupiter and Uranus. Amazingly these two oppositions are square to each other forming a Grand Square (or Grand Cross). In many ways, this alignment is the strongest celestial event we have witnessed in years.
This alignment is intensified by the fact that the outer planets are all in the process of making sign changes. Jupiter and Uranus at the Spring Equinox are opposite to Saturn at the Autumn Equinox. The Sun at its northern stopping point is opposed by Pluto now closely aligned to the Galactic Equator.
The Sun-Pluto opposition asks us to examine the balance between our expression (how we live and shine) and the great energy of our Source--how well does our experience reflect the consciousness from which our life flows? The Jupiter-Uranus opposition to Saturn asks us how we are balancing our need to grow and evolve with the restrictions of our situation and Karma. What the living universe highlights for us is not meant as reason for self-judgment, but rather an opportunity to gain clarity and recognize our power to choose differently.
Interestingly, there are additional forces at work raising our consciousness as we move through this event.
At the exact moment of the Solstice, the Moon forms a Grand Trine with both the Sun and the Neptune-Chiron conjunction. This trine gracefully confers awareness of the deeper working of consciousness and what we refer to as the soul. This awareness helps us in recognizing how at deeper levels we contribute in shaping our experience. This happens not just through our thinking, but much more by the power of our individual and collective attention--what we give our attention to is where our life force and creative energy flows.
Although this grand square is powerful and challenging (indicating profound changes in our experience), the grand trine highlights tools and resources available to assist us in navigating toward favorable outcomes.
Lunar Eclipse (June 26, 4:30 am, Pacific)
Exactly five days after the Solstice, the Moon aligns with the Galactic Center, during which there will be a Lunar Eclipse while the Moon is closely aligned with Pluto at 4 degrees Capricorn.
Lunar Eclipse (4:30 am PDT, June 26, 2010)
The Full Moon's alignment with the Galactic Center and Pluto highlights the transmutational energy of Source which drives the dynamics of all existence. Hunbatz Men, a Mayan spiritual elder, once explained to me that the Galactic Center, or Hunab K'u, is the essential energy of all Form and Movement. He explained further that, from the perspective of Mayan cosmology, Hunab K'u is the greatest manifestation of what we might refer to as Divinity on the physical plane.
The Full Moon's alignment with Pluto also highlights the on-going T-Square that Pluto currently holds with the Saturn opposition to Jupiter-Uranus. Pluto's pivotal position in this alignment brings focus to the transmutational impact of consciouness--informing us of the celestial blessedness blooming in the workings of our present experience.
We have tamed our ears too well to know.
Yet, the Wild Rhythms of the Earth
That so thoroughly forgotten
Its Song surrounds the Lyric
